# The wording of each piece of advice, kept apart from the knowledge.
# One line per advice: label = text. Lines starting with # are notes.
patch canker care = Scrape the soft, rotten bark down to healthy wood, burn the scrapings, and paint the wound with the fungicide your penyuluh recommends. Keep water from standing around the trunk.
drain and treat canker = Water standing around the roots feeds this rot. Dig drains so the soil dries after rain, then treat the patch as for canker.
canker emergency = A patch that goes most of the way around the trunk can kill the tree. Call the penyuluh this week, and do not wait for the harvest.
durian fruit rot care = Pick up and bury rotten fruit, prune for air and light, and keep fruit off wet soil. Ask the penyuluh about protecting the tree before the rainy season.
root rot care = Yellow, wilting leaves with water standing at the roots mean the roots are rotting. Dig drains, keep mulch away from the trunk, and ask the penyuluh about treatment.
anthracnose care = Dark sunken spots are anthracnose, a fungus that attacks many fruits. Remove and burn spotted fruit and leaves, prune for air, and never keep seed from spotted fruit. Ask the penyuluh about hot-water dipping after harvest.
fruit fly control = Collect every fallen and stung fruit and bury it at least 30 cm deep. Hang methyl eugenol traps, and wrap young fruit in paper bags.
nutrient check = Yellow leaves often mean the plant is short of nitrogen. Ask the penyuluh about a soil test before adding fertilizer, and give it in smaller doses.
yellow virus control = Curled yellow leaves with whiteflies are the yellow virus. Pull out and destroy sick plants, hang yellow sticky traps, and plant rows of maize around the field.
planthopper control = Brown planthoppers at the base of the plants: drain the field for a few days, do not add more nitrogen, and do not spray insecticides that also kill the spiders and beetles that eat them.
planthopper emergency = Patches drying out mean a heavy planthopper attack. Call the penyuluh today, warn your neighbours, and plant at the same time as them next season.
blast control = Diamond-shaped spots with gray centers are blast. Split the nitrogen fertilizer, keep the field flooded if you can, and choose a resistant variety next season.
